Okearo All Stars Shine as Champions of Maiden FOLA-YAYI Football Competition

The maiden edition of the FOLA-YAYI Football Competition came to a thrilling close yesterday, with Okearo All Stars emerging champions after defeating Genesis FA, by a lone goal in a keenly contested final.

The competition, codenamed FOLA-YAYI, was sponsored in honour of Hon. Fatiu Folawewo Salami, the member representing Ifo II State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, alongside Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), CON, FCA, who recently emerged as the consensus candidate of the Ogun APC for the 2027 gubernatorial contest.

The initiative was designed to promote unity, love, and social cohesion among youths, particularly those with a strong passion for football. From the opening match to the grand finale, the competition successfully brought together young talents, fostering community engagement and sportsmanship.

Hon. Fatiu Folawewo Salami, the brain behind the laudable initiative, was fully present at the event, accompanied by his wife. Both keenly watched the electrifying and action-packed final match.

The competition was also graced by the Council Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Hon. Idris Olamilekan Kusimo, alongside councillors within Ifo II, All Progressives Congress (APC) party leaders, community stakeholders, youth groups, and football enthusiasts.

Also in attendance were revered royal fathers within Ifo II State Constituency, including the Olokearo of Okearo, Oba Alani Sodipo, and the Onisaga of Isaga-Abosule, Oba Mudasiru Biliaminu Atanda, who joined spectators in cheering the teams and celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship.

Earlier in the day, the third-place position was secured by FOLA-YAYI (FOYA), who edged past Soccer Talent with a narrow 1–0 victory.
